Breathing Techniques for Improve Nervous System Function January 9, 6:00pm-7:00pm PST

Sale Price: $40.00 Original Price: $80.00

**This workshop is open to anyone, regardless of training background. THIS WORKSHOP IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR NPCP CREDITS AT THIS TIME.

Most of us are either holding in our stomach or breathing into the stomach, exacerbating conditions like stress, anxiety. More than ever, we live in a world that activates the sympathetic “fight or flight” response. Sleep issues, asthma, stress, and hormone fluctuations are all acutely affected by our nervous system. Why is this important?

Diaphragmatic Breathing and introduction to Hypopressive Breathing will improve Pelvic Floor Function and activate the “rest and digest” response in the body, also known as the Parasympathetic  Nervous System. Improving breathing and offering simple-to-follow breathing cues and techniques will support your movement practice, lower your stress response and help address nervous system function.

What you will get:

  • Learn the connection between the brain and body and how regulating your breath is integral to managing stress and anxiety.

  • Introduction and review of the autonomic nervous system, the distinction between the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems.

  • Feel your breath and how your breath regulates your nervous system.

  • Learn what “the core” is, how to avoid doming the stomach (sometimes referred to as diastasis) when engaging the abdominals.

  • Learn how to do Hypopressives and “false breathe” your way to a stronger pelvic floor and improve pelvic floor function.

  • Learn how to use simple props to activate the pelvic floor and deeper breathing.

  • Understand the benefits of nervous system regulation and how to support an overly active mind and tension.

  • Clarity on what good breathing looks and feels like.

  • Experience a shift in your breathing.
